I remembered I said this when I went to Batu Pahat with Dear's family: "I swear I will never come on such trips with your family EVER again!!!!!!!!" Before I knew it, I was squashed between him and his mother in the cab which was on its way to Woodlands checkpoint. That's why they said, "Never trust a woman."
As usual, it's a boring trip with LOTSA, and I seriously mean LOTSA aunties and uncles, ah mas and ah peks. The number of youngsters on board was countable with one hand of mine. Basically, it was a trip which you eat, shop and pray.
I totally hate that tour guide. He gave us 3 options:
1) Go St. Paul’s Church and shopping centre
2) Go 青云庙 and shopping centre
3) Go St. Paul’s Church and 青云庙
So after a series of torturous voting, majority of the people chose Option 3. But guess what the tour guide said? “Why don’t we choose Option 2? We should spare some consideration for the elderlies in the group and not let them walk too much. Since we are Chinese, it is only right that we visit a place that is related to us. So let’s choose Option 2 k? Any objections? Alrite, we shall stick to Option 2 then.”
I was like #$%^&%#$%^@#$%^#$%*&^%#$!!!!!!!! You are just plain lazy and want to make your job easy then say lah!!!!!!! Why give us so many options!?!?!?! Kaoz…Waste our time or rather waste my time and make me happy for awhile…Thinking that I can go to St. Paul’s and have a look. But what choice do I have? Dear’s dad has already brought his incense sticks and papers and he is the one who paid for the trip. He wanted to go and pray. So what say do I have? Suck thumb loh.
When we got to the temple, we spent almost half an hour walking around and listening to the tour guide under the scorching hot sun. Why the dragon has 4 claws? Why do you see a Portuguese figure supporting the pillar? Which hand do you use to offer incense? Blah blah blah. You ask me, I know it now. The other half an hour, I was wondering where to stick the bunch of incense sticks in my left hand with my eyes half-open
The rest of the trip was like eating 8-course meal at Chinese seafood restaurant…. shopping for native products…..quarrelling with Dear…shopping for native products… shopping for native products…..quarrelling with Dear….8-course meal at Chinese seafood restaurant…..*yawnz*
The only good thing of the trip was that perhaps my Hokkien has improved after the trip. The reason being I HAVE WATCHED TWO FREAKING EPISODES OF HOKKIEN DRAMA SERIAL on the bus. And it was all about Door God 门神, Tiger God 虎爺 and not forgetting the villain, Chicken Demon 鸡角精. So interesting right?
So I guess that’s all folks. Am I going for another such trip again? Dear, I repeat, "I swear I will never come on such trips with your family EVER again!!!!!!!!"
