It's National Day and I am at home. How sad can that be? But I guess it is my choice. I am supposed to go Marina Bay with Dear to catch the NDP from Merlion Park. But he is swimming with his friend at Delta swimming pool instead now. Reason for being home: Guilt-stricken. As I was out for the whole day yesterday, I decided to stay home and do some work for my dissertation today. In the end, I spent the past few hours tidying things up in my blog. Damn. Maybe I shouldn't have started this in the first place. It makes me lose my concentration for my work.
So as you can see, I got a blogskin and supposedly, alot of people is using this and Moreen's friend has this skin as well as her name is Eden. Great. However, this is only be for the time being. But unless I finish my dissertation and have time to design a new skin, you will see this green one for good.
Last night, I finally went to the bursary ceremony organised by the PCF (People's Community Foundation?) after so many years. Every year, I will apply for the bursary award given by the community club and sumhow I will get it. But I will not go for the ceremony as it is just too choreful. I will just skip it and go for the make-up mini ceremony a week later instead. However this year, they are smart enough to state that if we do not attend the ceremony, the award will not be given out unless a valid letter of excuse is given. So what to do? Go loh. Suck thumb.
They always make it such that the ceremony will coincide with the National Day Celebration Dinner where a lot of people from my area will gather and celebrate the big day. The award-giving ceremony will be part of the program. In the past, we will queue up for more than an hour and go up one by one to receive the award. This year, it was slightly different. ALL of us had to stand on stage and wait for the arrival of the Guest-of-Honour, MP Mr Baey Yam Keng. When he arrived, he got onto stage and the national anthem is played, followed by the pledge which is led by one of the TOP award recipients who happens to be my primary schoolmate. And for people who has forgotten the pledge, there was even a monitor at the front of the stage displaying the words of the pledge. But how can anyone even forget how to recite the pledge??!?!?!?!?!?!? Whenever I forget, I will sing a particular song "We are Singapore" as it has the pledge in it. For those of you who are one of those who can actually forget the pledge, here it is:
pledge ourselves as one united people.
Regardless of race, language or religion,
To build a democratic society;
Based on justice and equality.
So as to achieve happiness, prosperity,
And progress for our nation.
So, I got off stage and went to the office to collect my cheque. When I met Dear, I told him that the top award recipient for the university category was my primary schoolmate. Then he said, “That girl? That girl? You know what? She is an idiot! An idiot you know! She was telling her boyfriend, ‘Did you see me on stage? I was reciting the pledge leh. Did you see me recite the pledge?' But her boyfriend did not say anything." I was like.... -_-” Big deal.
I guess I don’t have to undergo the same ordeal again as this would be my last chance to receive this award. I will no longer be a student from next year onwards!!! So is that good or bad news? Haiz…
no mood to write dissertation....hooowwwww....maybe I will change my mind and go out later afterall....hee....
P.S. I am quite proud that I can edit bits of the layout of the blog by myself even when I am a HTML-idiot... hee...
