I was browsing through the Friendster profile of one of my ex-boyfriends and I saw the pictures of his new-born baby boy.
Mixed feelings overwhelmed me.
I was kind of shocked when I received news of his marriage but I expected the reason behind it. What other reasons could have possibly caused this young Casanova to settle down so soon? He was really careless. I was wondering, what will happen if I am still with him now? Will we still been happily enjoying our couplehood? Or will we have a shotgun marriage too?
I am not someone who is willing to settle down in the simplest manner. At least there should be a reception lunch and a flat secured before I get married. Marriage has been a dream for me. Abortion, rather than marriage, may be the solution to my pre-marital pregnancy. And I mean maybe. If I get married to someone because of a child, this may mean that I do not love this man the most but for the sake of the baby, I shall marry him. It is a marriage tied by obligations and responsibilities. But will we be together for the rest of our lives? I do not have the faith.
I guess at this point of time, I am not ready to welcome a kid into my life too. Once a parent, the amount of responsibilities, time and not to mention, money to be spent on the child is immense. As a student now, I doubt I am able to handle this incredible amount of burden. And not forgetting, my haggard looks and figure after pregnancy. No!!! I cannot handle all these now.
But I am really happy for him now. His cute baby boy brought a smile to me when I saw his pictures. I hope for the very best for him and his family. But a comment from a mutual friend of both of us (She was the one who actually brought the 2 of us together.) kind of disturbed me. She said his wife resembles me but I am prettier as I have the youth. So should I feel flattered or? *speechless* I guess guys have their particular taste for girls.
