This year's Chinese New Year was really a hectic one, especially so when I had to visit Dear's relatives too. I actually wanted to spare a day or two at home to work on my thesis but there was hardly any chance to. So, a recall of the happenings of those five days:
除夕夜
Reunion dinner@Home
My family had dinner early this year as I had another dinner with Dear's family after it. We decided not to have steamboat dinner tis year. Instead, each of us whipped up a dish but I came out with two i.e. Abalone with spinach and mushroom and Garlic butter prawns. Presentation was not that bad but the taste could be improved. Dear commented that the spinach sauce was abit salty (as usual) and the rest said the prawns had too much garlic. *sobz* Give me some credit la!!!! Mum bought roasted duck and prepared steamed chicken whereas Mei prepared shark fins soup which I only had a few mouthful as I wanted to reserve some space for the other reunion dinner of Dear's family. I drank a bowl of the shark fins the next day instead but it did not taste as nice. Now we know that shark fins soup cannot be stored overnight.

One word - LOUSY!!!!!!!! This was the first time I had a reunion dinner in a restaurant and it was the worst dinner I ever had in a restaurant too. The fish was not fresh; the lotus rice was uncooked and the vegetables simply looked unappetising. With the repetitive screening of Malaysians singing CNY songs on the huge projector screens in the room, it worsened the appetite. The only thing that was worth the visit is the architecture. At the end of the day, I got myself so full but it was filled with untasteful wastes.
初一
二阿姨's house
As usual, we visited 二阿姨 and family on the first day of CNY. Though her house is so near to ours, we were simply too lazy to walk over in our heels. My sister and I are always full of envy for my 二阿姨 as her children are so filial to her and the family always seems so lively, especially during CNY. After staying for a couple of hours, Dear came to fetch me to go over to his Uncle Tony's house. As usual, we took a few shots in the neighbourhood before setting off.

Nothing much happened in Uncle Tony's house. The same old stuffs. Steamboat dinner. A lot of relatives whom I hardly talk to. Something or rather someone pissed Dear off during dinner though. One of his cousins was getting married but when we were having dinner together, Dear tried to strike conversations with the others including him but he was quiet throughout dinner. Though his cousin has already informed Dear's mum about it, Dear thought he should at least mention about it to him during dinner. "No sincerity at all. If he does not want to open his golden mouth, then I shall not move my golden ass be in his wedding." Men. haiz.Pink Army gathering @Moreen's house After dinner, I went to Moreen's house for our annual gambling session. But to my surprise, they were not gambling when I reached her house. They were surfing porn!!!!!hahaha....actually, they were gossiping about the scandals of Edison and browsing through pictures of him and his victims. I shall reserve my comments of those pictures. Finally, we started the gambling session and I wished we did not. My luck was really shitty despite the pink undies I wore. hee.
Movie @ Causeway Point - 功夫灌藍
The girls decided to catch Jay Chow's movie at Causeway Point after the gambling session. hmm..not too bad...but the ending abit too much...talented child who found his long-lost father who is one of the richest man in the world. How absurd can that be?
初二姑媽's house
Visits to my relatives' houses are always so boring as my family is not close to them. Mainly due to the fact that my parents married late and my cousins are old enough to be my aunties and uncles and my nieces and nephews are younger than me. Basically, we just show our faces to them once a year, answer the same old questions every year, take ang baos and leave. *yawnz* The frustrating thing was, Dear went along to my 姑媽's house this time and he kept on asking me when we could leave. Argh!!!!!!!!! I shall not say further. Dear, you know what I said right?

Finally, we left 姑媽's house and reached Dear's house. We felt so much at ease when we were in his house. To my surprise, they had a family photo taking session that day. One of his cousins is a professional photographer and I was awed by the equipments he brought. I was damn pissed when we were taking the group photo. Dear went to stand at the back and told me to stand beside another person. WTH! I am not in your family and when you asked me to join in, you asked me to stand beside another person!!!! I rather not be in the picture!!!! After knocking some sense into him, he came down and stood beside me. The photographs are yet to be sent to us yet.
初三
三姑's house (Dear's)
We were supposed to go to the Sentosa Flower Fair with my family but Dear said he had to accompany his family to 三姑's house. Fine, I postponed it to the next day. In the end, we ended up rotting in 三姑's house and lost $40. Blame it on Dear's dirty undies. I should have stuck to my decision to go to the fair.
初四
Flower fair
At first, I did not want to go as I woke up feeling unwell. But I did not want to disappoint my Mum again so we still went ahead. After some sun exposure, I felt better. The fair was not as great as I thought and with the immense heat, it was rather tormenting. The flowers were almost the same but in different arrangements. The nicer stations had long queues and it pissed me further with those q-cutters assholes. Singaporeans. Where will they act like civilised humans? haiz. (Still waiting for my Mei to pass me the photographs.)
Ricky is the main contractor for the interior project job I was doing and he invited my ex-colleagues and I over to his house. As I did not go for the reunion dinner that he invited me, I promised him that I will go to his house this time. I did not feel like going to his house as it is in Pasir Ris!!!!!!! After much begging and coaxing, Dear still refused to send me over. haiz...no choice. In the end, I took a cab which cost me around $18 but I got a $20 ang bao from Ricky and won $8 from a half-an-hour of Blackjack session. So I actually earned $10!!!! Not too bad...hee..
