Here's another post on taxi drivers.
It's not because I have something against them. No. Definitely not. But the actions of some black sheeps were simply unforgivable.
I was reading the Newpaper last night and this particular news stunned me. A taxi-driver mounted kerb and hit a Filopino maid. Her leg was severed and she was flung 15m away into a drain. Yes she died. On the spot. And the driver? Safe and unhurt.
Pedestrians can be unsafe even when they are walking on pedestrian paths. haiz.
I wonder what could have caused the taxi driver to mount the kerb? If he had been careful in his driving, there was no reason that he would mount the kerb. Even if he had no choice and had to mount the kerb (maybe to shun another driver on the right), his car couldn't have spun. Unless he was speeding.
A life has been lost because of the driver's complacency and negligence. And it was not his life. Talk about fairness.
Here’s another incident that happened a few days ago.
While Dear was on his way to Westmall, a taxi almost crashed onto his car when this reckless driver tried to overtake his car from the left. With no signal. Dear had to jam-brake in order to prevent the occurence of an accident. Dear was infuriated, needless to say. Coincidentally, Dear spotted the passengers of the taxi alighting somewhere near Westmall. Impulsive and agitated as he was, Dear did something that would not have happened if I was around.
He got out of his car and confronted the driver.
*sighs*
I shall not mention the details of the confrontation. All I can say is both parties almost end up in a fight (with Dear waiting for that uncle to make the first move before he had the right to hit in defence).
Clearly, the taxi driver was in the wrong. Even the passengers who alighted his cab knew that and were on Dear’s side. The passenger who was seated at the right back passenger seat was even carrying a baby. If both cars had collided, he and his child will be the casualties. And me, if I was in the car.
However, the cab driver simply refused to admit his mistakes. Vulgarities defended his argument while Dear supported himself with reasons. (that was what he claimed la..hee..)
All the cab driver had to do was to apologise and promise to drive with more care. But to bow his head to a young chap seemed too disgraceful and demeaning with his egoistic esteem.
Dear made a complaint call to the taxi company, with the intention of giving a warning to the driver and not a termination instead.
Let’s hope the taxi drivers of both incidents are not the same.
