Eventful weekend

10th May 2008, Saturday
Farm visiting@Sungei Tengah

It was a farm-visiting day for Dear and I as we headed to Sungei Tengah. As Dear has an empty fish tank at home, we thought we could do something about it. Thus, we went to Qian Hu to buy some fishes and equipments. I wanted to have a try of the fish spa but as time did not permit, we gave it a miss. Perhaps I can bring my family here next time.

Our next stop was Farmart. Supposedly, it had a bee farm, koi farm, lotus farm, quail farm, orchid Farm, ornamental Fish Farm, pet farm, beer garden, and lots more. Dear said I would be so excited when I reached. I thought so too as I was indeed thrilled by the number of pets I was expected to see. In the end, it was just a great disapointment. The so-called 'farms' were merely stalls or shops. The number of pets I saw in the 'pet farm' was comparable to the Pet Lovers Centre in Holland Village. And the beer garden? Just another ordinary eatery outlet. We left after buying 2 boxes of local fresh eggs which cost $2 each.
*yawns*

We were here. First and last visit. *yawns*

We spent around $50 buying the fishes and the neccessary equipments. After a day's effort of setting up the tank, only 2 out of 32 fishes survived. One by one, they started to swim in a spiralling manner and I knew it was another $1 gone. It was really upsetting to see them dying one by one. What a waste of effort and time. *signs*

Mother's Day dinner@Tambuah Mas, Paragon

Will I really look like Mummy when I am old? =(

Mei and Mummy

The dinner

For a change, we decided to have Indonesian food though it was not my favourite. Mei recommended us to Tambuah Mas and it was actually quite a nice restaurant. Small and comfy. As I was seated inside this restaurant which is located just opposite Ding Tai Feng, I can't help but wonder: Why are there so many people queuing outside Ding Tai Feng when there are other restaurants which are not as packed but serve food that are equally as nice too, like the one I am in now? I almost thought Ding Tai Feng has become a polyclinic with the customers holding on to their queue number and waiting patiently for their turns to enter. As the queue numbers ran, the sound "Ting! Ting!" was kind of irritating as I was indulging in my Indonesian cuisine.

For 3 ladies, we actually ordered 5 dishes!! Thankfully the servings were rather small, except for the assam fishhead. If only Dear was there. But we still managed to finish all the food and even had desserts in addition to the 2 complimentary desserts that the restaurant offered. Impressive!!! The food was not that bad but I thought Sanur Indonesian Restaurant was better. Overall, the meal cost $78 for 5 dishes, 1 coconut drink and 2 desserts. Money well-spent.

Tambuah Mas@Paragon    3.5* out of 5*

As we walked out from Paragon, I saw this saddening sight.

Beheaded

Before - It's glorious moment.

想當年, this used to be the hotspot for phototaking. Suppressed by commercialism, it has landed in such a sorry state. haiz.

As Mei wanted to get a belt, we went to Heeren and had a mini-window-shopping session. I wonder if it was because I had hibernated for too long, I was appalled that the prices are so freaking high now!!! $25 for a freaking belt when I actually got it for free from buying a dress online which cost less than $20!!! Online wholesale can sell an item for less than $10. Online stores buy from them and jack up the price for more than 2.5 times. And these real stores further jack up again. A belt that may cost $5 in online wholesale can cost $25 now!! Freaking extortion!!!! In the end, I bought a handphone pouch which still cost the same as the one I had and I told Mei that I can lend her my belt. FOC.

Time to go home. While trying to find a taxi stand, we ended up in a MRT station instead. The ride got really dreadful when it reached Outram Park. haiz.

Family group photo for the night

Happy Mother's Day, Mummy!!!!
